For all workshop information, visit martamouka.com
Explore the fascinating process of creating fabrics
with native plants, how to use plant material as a resist and
how to discharge natural dyes.
August 11–12, 2018
Two-day workshops will cover: a diversity of dye colours produced by plants • dye-fixing and modifying substances (mordants) for silk, cotton and wool • different techniques of folding and tying fabrics • methods of constructing and cooking bundles.
Workshops are held in a rustic barn located on 23 acres
of meadows and deciduous trees, minutes from Tweed and 37 km north of Belleville, Ontario. The setting is very tranquil, with plenty of botanical materials from the property and dyer’s garden.
At the end of the workshop, participants will leave with
one-of-a-kind, eco-printed silk scarves, and fabrics to use
in textile art or sewing projects.
