Description: You’ve learned how direct warp your rigid heddle loom but now what? Perhaps direct warping is not so convenient and plain weave is just a little too plain. In this workshop, you will plan your own unique striped warp. You will also learn to wind a warp on a warping board, thread your loom from front to back, set the loom up for weft floats, hemstitch and twist the fringe of your scarf. Students will set up their looms and begin weaving during the workshop but will take their looms home in order to complete their project. Looms must be returned at the February meeting.
Prerequisite: Intro to Rigid Heddle or experience weaving on a rigid heddle loom
Students should bring: Pencil and paper. Deposit cheque payable to OVWSG of $300 for loom loan (will not be cashed if loom returned on time in good order) or your own loom with a 12dpi heddle.
Materials Fee: $20 for a supply of Brassard 8/2 wool fibre in a variety of colours sufficient for the project. If students wish to weave with a different yarn, they can purchase their own. Please contact the instructor for suggestions of yarn substitutes.
